Sheffield Clean Air Zone launched

Sheffield City Council logo
Sheffield City Council has become one of the latest UK cities to introduce a Clean Air Zone.

Sheffield has launched its Clean Air Zone (CAZ), which aims to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the city, and to minimise the environmental impact on citizens’ health. Sheffield has been a Taranto client since 2020 and uses a number of our solutions. The CAZ is enforced using the council’s existing Taranto solution, which includes parking enforcement, permits, fleet bureau and number plate recognition modules.

Taranto is also used to support a range of clean air projects throughout the UK, including the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London. Our team has the skills and experience required to meet the requirements of even the largest and most complex implementations.

Moving Traffic Enforcement: Keeping our Roads Moving

By adopting Moving Traffic Enforcement, councils can target high-risk behaviours such as illegal turns, banned movements, and misuse of restricted lanes. The result is a measurable improvement in compliance, helping to keep junctions clear, protect vulnerable road users, and ensure traffic moves efficiently through busy networks.
